Wine Dinner Coming Up Sunday, January 12, at 6pm Demystifying the French Wine Regions

We could also call this wine dinner: ”What grape is in my bottle??”

The most common theme I’ve found in the 9 years we’ve had the restaurant when helping a guest choose a wine has been just this question. Many guests shy away from French wines simply because of their labeling system: instead of putting the name of the grapes in the wine on the bottle, they tend to put the region. What many folks don’t know, though, is that each region is defined by the grapes that they are allowed to grow there, and many, really most, of those grapes are familiar to us from the “New World” wines that we enjoy regularly. So we’ve asked Andrew Bishop of Oz Wines to scour his inventory for some great examples of French regional wines made with popular grape varietals, and to bring them over for an evening of “demystification.” We’ll pair the wines with great flavors to heighten the experience of tasting and savoring these beautiful wines, and next time you look at a wine list or a shelf in the wine shop, you won’t have to shy away from those French bottles, you’ll know just what’s inside of them…
