Chez Nous is the happy result of the combined talents of Franck Tessier and Rachel Portnoy, its husband and wife owners. The couple met while Franck was working as Executive Chef at The Point resort, in Saranac Lake, NY. A few years earlier, Franck relocated from his native France to London to work at the renowned, two-Michelin starred restaurant, Le Gavroche. After three years working his way up, he was sent to The Point, a Relais & Ch�teau property for whom Le Gavroche consulted.
Meanwhile, Rachel had also decided to follow her passion for cooking to London, where she studied at Le Cordon Bleu to become a pastry chef.�She had apprenticed for two summers in France as well as working in pastry at Lespinasse, Wheatleigh, The Point, and Le Gavroche.�When Rachel sent her resume to The Point to apply for the Pastry Chef position, the seeds of their future partnership�unbeknownst to them�began.
In 2002, the couple moved to the Berkshires.� Franck too the position of co-chef at the bistro From Ketchup to Caviar, and Rachel opened her own bakery-caf�, Cakewalk, both in Lee, Massachusetts.� Three years later, the two seized the opportunity to purchase 150 Main Street in Lee, to start their own place�Chez Nous�offering fine cuisine in a casual, warm atmosphere.�Here they are able to implement their vision and fulfill their passion for cooking, pastry, and wine.
